Summer comes to Urmston

Yesterday the sun shone at Urmston and brought out the crowds to enjoy Abbotsfield Park and ride on our trains.

I had enjoyable drives of 'The Beast' and Dave's Black Five. Lots of passengers to be carried meant plenty of work for all the locos.

Pictures as usual by Jason; please click on any one for a larger image.

Alan with his Scot, Bob, Malc, me, Peter with Jim's 9F on the prep bays

I check the level of blast from 'Evening Star's blower as Bob 'lights her up'

Families picnic in the park

92245 was a second 9F present yesterday; this one un-named and all black as they all were except one. 'Evening Star' was the last steam locomotive built by British Railways so Swindon Works (which built it) gave that 9F a Great Western lined green livery with copper-capped chimney. It was the only named 9F.

Jim has a drive of his own 9F, 'Evening Star'

The snapper snapped! This is Jason who usually takes all the pictures I use here. I have no idea who took this one! Jason is driving 92245, a black 9F.

Aaron on Dave's Black Five. Dave is seated, left.

The three Musketeers; Malc, Jim, and me enjoying the lovely afternoon
